What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy (OT) is the art and science of enabling engagement in everyday living through using assessment and treatment to develop, recover, or maintain the daily living and work skills of people with a physical, mental, or cognitive disorder. Occupational therapy focuses on identifying and eliminating environmental barriers to independence and participation in daily activities.

 

What are the conditions treated?  

We assess and provide therapy for various conditions including/ not limited to:

  • Pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) and people with Autism

  • Sensory processing disorders (SPD)

  • Learning disabilities & Learning difficulties

  • Apraxia and coordination disorders

  • Other musculoskeletal, neuromuscular disorders for adults and paediatric population, etc.

What are our techniques and modalities?

  • Sensory integration

  • Sensory diet

  • Cognitive activities, fine and gross motor activities and self-care

  • Educating family members and caregivers
